Champion Lakes

Champion Lakes is the showcase project of the Armadale Redevelopment Authority, the State Government agency leading the economic and social revival of the Armadale - Kelmscott area.

In late 2000, the Champion Lakes project was formally launched.  The 122 hectare site, owned by the WA Planning Commission and the City of Armadale, is accessible both to public transport and to the local and regional road networks, including the Tonkin Highway and has been identified as a potential location for regional scale recreational facilites with a water-based focus.

The Champion Lakes resendential, recreation and tourism facilties are on Lake Road. The Champion Lakes rowing course will be completed by a range of additional facilities, including:

  • a proposed world class white water rafting park
  • picnic areas
  • cycling paths
  • 26ha of residential land
  • small commercial outlets and
  • short term accommodation

There is also scope for a future conference centre and facilites to support international regatttas, as well as corporate and community functions and events.

Future developments at Champion Lakes will be an Aboriginal Interpretive and Enterprise Centre, resort -style accommodation, a high-quality  residential area, conference facilities and small-scale business and commercial activities.
