The City of Armadale has the following Suburbs and Localities:
Armadale, Bedfordale, Brookdale, Champion Lakes, Forrestdale, Haynes, Hilbert, Karragullen, Kelmscott, Mt Nasura, Mt Richon, Roleystone, Seville Grove, Camillo and Wungong.
The City is located 29kms SE of Perth and has a population of 62,000+ - which is likely to increase to 85,000 over the next ten years.
The Major Junction of the South West Highway, Albany Highway and Armadale Road within the City of Armadale allows the City to be a Gateway destination to the South West.
People travelling from Albany or the South West can enter the City of Perth via Armadale or people travelling from the City of Perth, to all areas within the South of our amazing state, can exit from Armadale.
The City has an area of 560.4 sq kms. 548.05 kms of Sealed roads and 32.5 kms of unsealed road. People are still able to live within the City of Armadale and feel like they are living in the Country in some sections. This is a special feature of Armadale, which has many Dams, Walk Trails, Golf Courses and a Botanic Park within its boundaries.
The town of Kelmscott celebrated its 175th Anniversary on the 9th October 2005. It was named after Kelmscott in Oxfordshire England in July 1830 in honor of Archdeacon Scott. Armadale was established in 1893 as a terminus of the then railway line.
In 1894 the Canning Road District was named and the Kelmscott Road Board formed. The area was renamed Armadale/Kelmscott in 1910. By 1st July 1979 the area was designated as a Town and on the 16th November 1985 the area became a City.
There is an old Jarrah tree - near the Armadale Shopping City car park-on the Cnr of Third Road and Church Avenue. It is one of three in WA to be Heritage Listed and is estimated to be between 400-800 years old.
