The DEC manages more than 25 million hectares that comprise the national parks, marine parks, conservation parks, regional parks, State forest, timber reserves and nature reserves.

It is also responsibile for the on-ground management of nearly 87 million hectares of unallocated Crown land and 2.2 million hectares of unmanaged reserves.
