Things to do in Perth with Kids

Listen ?

Always looking for new things to do in Perth with the kids and rest of the family? Does taking a short day trip from Perth sounds like something the family would be interested in? If so, take the short 40 minute drive south of Perth to spend a day touring Armadale and enjoying all this great City has to offer.

One of the biggest reasons why Armadale should be considered by families planning their day trips from Perth is because of its strong family focus and positive community atmosphere.

Not only that, but Armadale has an endless amount of things to do that Perth families with kids can enjoy. Below we have created a list of our favourite things to do and places to visit for families that have young children.

Family Friendly Attractions

Cohunu Koala Park
If your children love getting up close and personal with animals, then they will absolutely love Cohunu Koala Park. Come and make friends with the unique Australian fauna who freely roam the park. Buy a bucket of feed at the beginning on your journey and make your away around the park using the tracks and pathways, stopping to hand feed the friendly animals along the way. Visitors will encounter over 30 talking parrots, see dingoes, kangaroos, emus, deer and koalas, just to name a few. Finish the day by having a cuddle with a koala, with the opportunity to take a souvenir photo to remember the awesome day your family spent at Cohunu Koala Park.

Armadale Reptile and Wildlife Centre
Bring your family along to support this wonderful initiative who are dedicated to the rescue and rehabilitation of all types of wildlife and the specialty care of native reptiles and marsupials.

The Armadale Reptile and Wildlife Centre houses a large variety of native reptiles and other Australian wildlife and your family will have the chance to meet over 70 different species of lizards, snakes, turtles, frogs, fruit bats, kangaroos, emus, dingoes, bustards, parrots and more.

Community Activities

One of the greatest things about Armadale, whether you’re a resident or simply looking for things to do in Perth’s surrounding suburbs with kids, is the close knit community and endless amount of family oriented public events and activities.

Bunnings Armadale
The Bunnings in Armadale is extremely child friendly and welcomes little visitors to participate in DIY projects and craft activities whilst their parents shop. The dedicated Kids D.I.Y area will keep your children entertained and teach them a few handy skills whilst you pick up the essentials.

Play in the Park
These community-organised and run playgroups aim to provide a supportive and friendly network for families with young children aged between 0-5. They assist with child development through playing and learning and allow parents the opportunity to meet likeminded people and make new and lasting friendships. Check their website for dates, times and locations.

Geocaching
Haven’t heard of Geocaching? It’s a new real world, outdoor treasure hunting game that you can play at any time, right here in Armadale. The aim for players is to try and locate hidden containers, called geocaches, using a GPS enabled device (e.g. mobile phone) and then to share their experiences online.
